American Lutheran Church of Richey was formed on July 15, 1928 when Rev. B. J. Hatlem of Circle met with a croup of Lutherans in the Odd Fellows Hall to form a new congregation. In 1931 property was purchased and a church erected. The church was financed in part by a loan from the Church Extension Fund.
